Candle Care Tips

Candles have " wax memory", especially soy wax candles. This means, it can be hard to fix a bad first burn. Tunneling can cause your candle to waste tons of wax around the edges, or not stay lit altogether because the oxygen cannot flow in.

If your candle won’t stay lit because your wick is drowning, try to swirl the wax around to the outside edges, or use a paper towel to soak up some of the extra wax. Please DO NOT carve out wax from the candle. This will make it worse.

TRIM your wicks! Wood wicks and Cotton wicks need to be trimmed before every use. Keep Cotton wicks trimmed to 1/4”, and Wooden wick trimmed to 1/8”. Be sure to clean out any burnt pieces of wick before each burn.

Lighting Wooden Wicks can be a bit different than a traditional cotton wick. Trim first, and tilt the candle slightly at an angle. Let the flame travel across the entire length of the wick, to ensure it burns evenly. If the flame looks too big, trim and relight.

A properly trimmed wick should not produce any smoke or soot. Burn your candles in 2-4 hour increments, depending on the diameter of vessel.

With soy candles be sure to let the wax melt completely to the outside edges of the candle. Especially on the first burn. With beeswax or coconut blended candles, the wax will melt down not he sides with each burn.
